OUTSTANDING INTERN AND SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

STAR has committed over $35,000 towards Scholarship and Outstanding Intern Awards in past years. We are dedicated to making this our minimum level of commitment this year and for years to come.

This commitment includes awarding $500 Outstanding Intern Awards. These awards are based on the recommendations made by the intern supervisors of member companies, based on a stringent set of criteria defined by STAR. The number of awards given out varies from year to year based on the quality of the nominations. However, we have given out at least 50 awards each year for the past two years.

Any of the nominated Outstanding Interns are also eligible to apply for a STAR Scholarship of $1500. Similarly, the number of scholarships awarded varies, based on the quality of the applicants.

STAR provides $500 to each Bay Area college or university that participates in the annual American Advertising Federation (AAF) National Student Competition. STAR has provided assistance to at least three Bay Area Schools that compete in this annual event each year.

STAR generously supports BAARC (the Bay Area Advertising Relief Committee) every year. In the recent past years, we have donated at least $30,000 annually to this indispensable organization.

BAARC provides financial assistance to members of the advertising community who have encountered a medical/life crisis and have no other means of support at their disposal.
