Education Committee
Each year STAR strives to reach out to its members by offering opportunities to learn more through the collective knowledge of the people within our industry, inside and outside the San Francisco Bay Area market. This committee is broken into two sub-committees: Intern Program and Training.
The Intern Program sub-committee is responsible for putting on our Annual Outstanding Intern Awards and Scholarship Luncheon. They also work on creating in-classroom opportunities with the local colleges and universities for our members to speak directly to students studying in media and advertising.
The Training sub-committee is responsible for developing training seminars and speaker luncheons that are pertinent to our current industry and community needs.
You can help the committees by assisting in putting together our Annaul Outstanding Intern Awards and Scholarship Luncheon or in gathering possible panelists for training seminars.
Fundraising Committee
Our fundraising efforts are a year-round process. This committee is responsible for choosing our major fundraising events each year and soliciting for sponsors and prizes for these events. This committee is also involved in many non-event fundraising efforts such as our Media Directory, Broadcast Calendar and Website. You can get involved by helping to solicite for sponsors and prizes as well as helping the committee develop on-going and new non-event fundraising opportunities.
Marketing Committee
The Marketing Committee is also broken into three sub-committees: Communication, Membership and Networking Events
The Communication sub-committee oversees all of the communication efforts of the Marketing Committee. They ensure that our message gets out to as many people as possible by creating new and unique ways to dissimate our message. One way in which that is accomplished is via the numerous career fairs that STAR visits each Winter, Spring and Fall to reach out to students who are looking to get into the media and advertising industry.
Our Membership sub-committee not only creates awareness to attract new members, but is focused on reaching out to our core members to ensure we are honoring our committment in providing valuable services to help them continue to be profitable companies.
Our Networking Events have been a member favorite of the STAR organization. This sub-committee is responsible for finding hip and fun places for mixers, creating exciting events such as the Talent Show and Bowling Night for our members to get together and mingle.
You can get involved with this committee by helping to expand our membership by reaching out to new potential members. Or, if "hip and fun" is your middle name, then you would be great at soliciting bars/restaurants to host our Networking Events.
