Since the inception of STAR’s Outstanding Intern and Scholarship programs in 1993, STAR has awarded over $250,000 to over 350 students who have shown exceptional potential in performing their duties as interns at STAR member companies.

This program is exclusively offered to Bay Area STAR member companies. It is our way of helping to give back to the future of our industry.

Bay Area STAR awards $500 Outstanding Intern Awards to students who are nominated by their supervisors as showing exemplary work while completing their internship.

The number of awards given varies from year to year depending on the number of nominations that STAR receives.

If you supervise an intern who is doing an outstanding job, and would like to nominate them to win $500 as an Outstanding Intern, click here.

Each year STAR awards $1500 scholarships to several Outstanding Interns. Students MUST be nominated as an Outstanding Intern to be eligible to apply for a STAR Scholarship.

There are up to SIX Scholarship given away each year. The actual number of scholarships may vary from year to year based on the number of qualified applicants.

This event is held every November to honor and recognize our Outstanding Intern Award and Scholarship winners. The awards luncheon includes guest speakers from local Bay Area media companies who talk about their experiences in the industry and give advice to those students just starting out their careers.
